Krisia Ayala is an interdisciplinary artist, illustrator, and art educator born in San Juan and raised in Cataño, Puerto Rico. Her artistic journey began in 2007 at the San Juan School of Visual Arts and Design, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Image and Design with a specialization in Traditional Engraving and Mixed Media printing techniques.

Through her work, Ayala explores the intricate parallels between human and bird migration, using digital and print media to examine the complex experience of displacement from one's natural habitat. After relocating to New York City in 2014, she pursued a Master's Degree in Interdisciplinary and Digital Art Practices from City College of New York.

During her graduate studies, Ayala developed "If You Had Wings, Where Would You Go?"—an international workshop series serving children in Eastern Europe. This transformative experience shaped her artistic practice, leading to a distinctive fusion of generative art, illustrations, motion design, and abstract cartography.

Currently, Ayala serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Electronic Design and Multimedia Arts at City College of New York, where she teaches courses in Experimental Illustration, Motion Design, and Visual Narrative.
